The Chilton Furniture vision

At Chilton Furniture, we realize that you have a lot of options when it comes to making purchases for your home. Everywhere you look- on TV, on the radio, in the newspaper, - there's somebody screaming for your business. That's why we know that we must provide a service that is better than that of our competition. Not the same. Better!

• We must treat every customer as we would want to be treated ourselves.

• We must provide our customers with an enjoyable shopping experience. No high pressure, no trick closing tactics. We'll help you as much as you want to be helped. No more. No Less.

• We must provide our customers with the best products at fair prices.

• We must provide above average service before, during, and especially after the sale. Even if it means bending an occasional rule.

With out our customers we know that we cease to exist. That's why making sure that all, not just some, but all of our customers experience total satisfaction, is our primary goal. Of course, we are not perfect. But not a day goes by that we aren't striving to get there.

Chilton Furniture history

Chilton Furniture finds its beginnings in the late 1940's when Norbert Sturm and his brother-in-law Henry Steenport created the Chilton Shopping Center.

This hometown general store offered the best in groceries, dry goods, appliances, furniture, and floor covering. (An unusual mix even for that era!)

The late 60s' and early 70's brought a changing of the guard as Norbert's sons, Robert and Paul joined with fellow employee Norbert Keuler to assume ownership of the company.

In 1970, the Grocery portion of the business was moved to a new location. The appliance business was dropped shortly thereafter and the foundation for the Chilton Furniture of today was laid.

In 1987 a management shakeup put the entire operation in the hands of  Jerry Mallmann, in his mid-twenties with several years of experience. The company continued on a steady growth path and in 1997 the decision was made to vacate the old "DownTown" location in favor of a newly renovated showroom in a shopping center on the edge of town.

At the same time the move was being planned, Mallmann became a minority partner in the business as his partners planned to exit the business and move on to retirement.

Mallmann purchased the remaining stock in 2003 and began the next step in the plan for growing the business.

In the spring and summer of 2006, a major capital improvement was completed on the exterior of the building to improve the "Curb Appeal" of the business. The front façade was updated to a cutting edge modern styling. Signage was added, and the Parking lot was landscaped.

All this was done with the goal of expanding the store's reach far outside the Chilton city limits. The "New Chilton Furniture" was born!
